Host recommends deleting cloudflare plugin and setting up manually

What is the issue you’re encountering

I have the plugin installed on my WP site. My host recommends setting up Cloudflare manually and deactivating the plugin because it uses “resources”. The host uses Litespeed cache and this requires APO, which I have subscribed to on the free plan+$5. I have set up the site using the plugin and documentation from Cloudflare and my site is returning the correct values in the response header. The question is now that it’s set up, can I simply deactivate the plugin? It’s my understanding the plugin doesn’t actually control anything other than connect the site via api key and then engaging the correct settings/turning on APO. If that’s correct, then I can deactivate the plugin as the site is already properly set up. Is this correct?

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I have read tutorials and the knowledge base in the community.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

N/A

Hi @robert.allen.lehman,

Thank you for raising this question.

Please note that the APO plugin also does the relevant cache purging and attaches certain metadata to responses.

If you want to continue to use APO you will need the plugin.

I hope this helps, but please let me know if you need further assistance.
