Early in May 2022, I connected my website to Cloudflare, however, I had an issue where my laptop could not see the new home page for my site, it always showed me the original home page. All other pages correctly show the new Header & Footer plus new Page Content. The issue only appears to be related to the Home Page.
In frustration I removed the website from Cloudflare & the laptop was then able to see the new Home Page & any changes I subsequently made.
I have now reconnected the website to Cloudflare & encountering the same problems again. Interesting to note that the iPhone displays the old home page when connected via our Wi-Fi but displays the new home page when connected directly to Telstra and using mobile data.
Enabled Cloudflare Development Mode - Enabling Development Mode turns off caching for your site. All requests will be fetched from the origin server. Cloudflare will continue proxying traffic to your origin server without caching any content → No change
Cleared DNS & Browser Cache → No change
Paused Cloudflare → No change
I am at a loss to know what to do next so my website displays correctly for me when I am not logged in as the administrator. I don’t have this issue with any other websites on Cloudflare.
I have carried out more tests today & 99% sure the problem is with Cloudflare so hopefully someone here in the Community can provide me with a resolution.
TESTS Today
I asked another person in Australia who works 30kms away from here to look at https://servemydrink.com/. They also saw the OLD Home Page, so that should rule out any local caching issues on our devices or home NBN.
I asked Cloudflare Support to look at https://servemydrink.com/. They also saw the OLD Home Page & they are based in Europe.
CONCLUSION
The issue seems to be related to Cloudflare as the problem is still the same as when I first tried earlier this month but disappeared when I removed Cloudflare from my website.
Can anyone please advise what I need to do to get my website to display the Home page correctly?
This clearly sounds like Nameserver propagation discrepancy, which takes a while on devices which are caching DNS results. This potentially could be your router. Restarting should do the trick, but it’s also recommended to flush DNS cach on the enddevices.
NS propagation often takes up to 48 hours while in most cases it just takes 1-2 hours to fully complete.
You have appended a screenshot of your page, but what I see differenciates from both, old and new homepage your provided.
What you see seems to be a partial version of the old home page which I have never seen here in Australia, but was the same as the Fastcomet Support saw in Europe. However, when Fastcomet used localhost, they saw the new Home page.
When my friend here in Australia tried for me they got the old Home page without any variation.
I’m not sure I understand your comment “let us know what DNS provider you are using”. My domain is on NameCheap & the NS point to gail & phil ns.cloudflare.com. I changed to these more than 50 hours ago. My Host is Fastcomet.
Everything I could debug from here did not show me any obvious errors/mistakes… since we (MVPs) are just volunteers in the community here, we can’t look into your account nor your settings.
I would first check DNSSEC, DNS and the configuration on your server and compare them to the other sites. There must be some missconfiguration there, since I don’t see any evidence for a general Cloudflare missbehaviour.
