I have this problem where I have higher latency on one of my domains. They both have Cloudflare proxy on and are hosted on the same server. It’s strange to me that this is possible. My Cloudflare configurations for both of those domains are almost the same and have simple sites on them. I feel like that Cloudflare is routing one of my websites on a further away datacenter than the other.
After some futher testing. For some reason, that specific domain does not route through the New Zealand servers and instead picks a further away server.
Wonder if that’d be due to the local ISP peering in your country, meaning the route is different. Packet can go through some other country for example if the route is clogged or blocked somehow, or depending on the user’s ISP peering. The route is picked from the closest and the best one possible for the end-user/visitor of your Website.
The topic below could provide more useful information regarding the Cloudflare Anycast Network, your ISP provider having Peers with others regarding the BGP, etc.:
Other thing comming to my mind would be some network issues, incident, or a maintenance window, which could be checked at Cloudflare Status page:
I had a quick test at trying to connect to my website through Cloudflare WARP. It seems like it connects to the AKL colo (which is the local colo) instead.
My other domain doesn’t have this problem.
