High Ping and Packet Loss to Cloudflare's Hong Kong (HKG) Data Center

What is the name of the domain?

The issue is not specific to a single domain but affects all traffic routed through 172.67.215.44.

What is the error number?

There is no specific error number associated with this issue.

What is the error message?

No error message, but experiencing high latency (ping >300ms) and packet loss (~10%) when connecting to Cloudflare services.

What is the issue you’re encountering

I am encountering significant latency and packet loss when routing traffic through the Hong Kong (HKG) data center.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I am encountering significant latency and packet loss when routing traffic through the Hong Kong (HKG) data center. Based on a series of tests, the issue appears to occur at Cloudflare’s 172.67.215.44, as shown in the WinMTR logs.

Key observations:

Latency spikes from 3ms to >500ms on this hop.
Packet loss of ~10%.
Cloudflare’s status page shows HKG as “Partially Re-routed.”

  1. I confirmed that my local ISP connection is stable with no issues (1ms ping to my router).
  2. Switched DNS to 8.8.8.8 to rule out DNS resolution issues.
  3. Performed WinMTR tests to the affected Cloudflare IP (172.67.215.44).
  4. Checked Cloudflare’s status page and found that the Hong Kong (HKG) region is marked as “Partially Re-routed.”
  5. Verified the speed test from Cloudflare’s platform (speed.cloudflare.com), which shows normal performance.
  6. Reached out to my ISP, who confirmed no issues on their end.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Run a traceroute or WinMTR test to any domain routed through Cloudflare, such as speed.cloudflare.com.
Observe the increased latency and packet loss at the hop 172.67.215.44.
Compare results across different times of the day to note consistent high latency during peak hours.

Additional Context:
This issue affects services that rely on low latency and stable packet delivery, such as online gaming, video streaming, and real-time communications. It seems to be directly related to Cloudflare’s routing in the HKG region.

English is not my first language so I asked Ai to help me write the post above.

The issue is that I have noticed my self-host website is facing a significant high ping during 09:00~Next day02:00 everyday. According to Uptime Kuma result, ping mydomain gets up to 20000~500ms during the high ping period.

My self-host website is routed by Cloudflared tunnel and reverse proxy by Zoraxy.
v Cloudflared Tunnel is working well
v Reverse proxy is working well
v All docker/Host is running well and stable
v Ping from Lan to the docker above is under 1ms
v Ping to 1.1.1.1 is 2ms
x Ping to mydomain is 800+ms
x Ping mydomain is 800+ms
v Ping mydomain LAN IP is ~0ms

v Used MTR to trace the package to mydomain.com and found it stuck at 172.67.215.44

Hi, I still have this issue, Is there any update?
