High amount of requests from Cloudflare

Hello,

since some days we are seeing a lot of requests originating from Cloudflare, even though we are not using any Cloudflare services.

The requests are just requesting our index page, not even following redirects. Since we are currently also getting DDOSed through VPS providers in many different countries, we think that this is caused by some abusive configuration within Cloudflare trying to get us down.

Is it possible to generate such high amount of requests through Cloudflare to someone elses webservices?

Welcome to the Cloudflare Community. :logodrop:

If you do not use the Cloudflare proxy, you may want to block Cloudflare proxy IPs as close to your network edge as possible.

That will not do anything to affect traffic from other sources, of course.

Have you considered taking the opposite approach? You could use the Cloudflare proxy to protect yourself against DDoS and only allow Cloudflare proxy IPs to connect to your site.

Once your site is on Cloudflare you can stop unauthorized requests by enabling Authenticated Origin Pulls using your private CA certificate.

Thanks for the quick response.

We do run our own DDOS protection which works fine.
Our origin is not contacted directly by CF and we already challenge all the CF requests since they seemed suspicious to us. We were just wondering what kind of CF service might cause such a high amount of requests / if someone has configured our endpoints in their CF account to avoid being blocked or something.
