Help me to fix a DNS situation: I have a cached * record that I already removed fro

What is the name of the domain?

kobiii.com

What is the error number?

N/A

What is the error message?

Incorrect DNS resolution/propgation, and with purge: Sorry, you do not have access to purge cache for that zone id or that zone id is invalid (kobiii.com)

What is the issue you’re encountering

Unable to update DNS because a * record which was already removed is taking precedence.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Deleted the * record
waited 24 hours
attempted to purge
Got error trying to purge

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

I have a cached * record that I already removed from DNS but after 24 hours is still resolving.
So I think I need to purge my DNS, but it is not letting me even though I am a super admin.
I get this error: Sorry, you do not have access to purge cache for that zone id or that zone id is invalid (kobiii.com)

Purging DNS cache is something you do on your computer, not on Cloudflare.

However, I still see the wildcard. Can you show a screenshot of your DNS record?

Cloudflare has a purge dns cache feature, thats where i got that error message.
Here is the current dns:

so the ones that are 54.x are the ones not resolving

What does it say at the top of the page? Is it “finish setup”?

yes it does show that: finish setup
my sites are not hosted at cloudflare though, just the domain and the DNS for the domain im working on.

thanks, you guided me actually to the issue
if I log in as a different cloudflare user on the same account, the DNS table for the same domain is different, showing the old records
Kind of wacky, but I suspect the answer is to just use that persons account which I will try.

If you want to use the domain in your account, you need to change the nameservers at the registrar to the nameservers that are assigned to your account.

As an alternative to logging in with that person’s username and password, or transferring the domain to your own account…

You can have the person make you a Team member on their account. This way, you’ll login with your own credentials, but you’ll be able to manage the domain that resides on the person’s account.
