Do i need custom nameservers for .gov? Having trouble getting 365 email working!
I have successfully created the domain on login.gov and pointed to rita and sean.ns.cloudflare.com. Added the domain to cloudflare account and created the records for 365. The domain is verified on 365, however when I try to add an account to outlook I’m prompted for an imap password. I ran Microsofts SARA tool and it says there is no CNAME record for autodiscover, however I did add the record!
Ensure the CNAME record is DNS Only.
If that’s not it, post a screenshot of your DNS settings so we can have a look.
Another note, the domain is working fine using outlook on the web. I can send and receive email using a .gov address. The problem I’m having now is adding the account to outlook desktop. It doesn’t find the account and prompts for an imap password for some reason. Adding another screenshot.
I don’t see anything wrong with the DNS. Your autodiscover
record is correct for 365, and it resolves correctly. Since email in general is working I assume the verification TXT record is correct as well.
My understanding is that the autodiscover setup for Outlook will go to IMAP if it doesn’t recognize the configured email address as belonging to a 365 account. Maybe there’s something in the setup on the Microsoft side that isn’t right?
it is wokring this am. i guess I wasn’t waiting long enough for it to propagate. thank you for taking your time to look at it. have a great day!
