A More Organized and Efficient Way to Manage Your Domain’s Configuration
As a Cloudflare user, I know firsthand how important it is to have precise control over my domain’s DNS configuration.
Whether I’m managing a single website or a complex network of domains, keeping my DNS records organized and easy to find is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of my online presence.
With the new features announced to DNS management, I feel like users would be able to create logical folders for the group and organize our DNS records, making it easier to manage our domain’s configuration and quickly find the records we need.
Here’s how it could work:
- When we log into our Cloudflare account, we would see a new “Folders” tab in the DNS settings.
- From this tab, we could create a new folder by clicking the “Create Folder” button and giving it a name.
- Once we’ve created a folder, we could drag and drop our DNS records into it, or use the “Move to Folder” option in the record’s menu.
- We could also create subfolders within folders to further organize our records.
- The Folders will appear in the DNS list with other DNS records and can be opened or collapsed
I envision group folders for DNS records being available to all Cloudflare users, including those on the Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans.
With group folders , we would be able to:
- Keep our DNS records organized: No more scrolling through a long list of records trying to find the one we need. With group folders, we could easily locate the records we need and keep related records together.
- Collaborate with team members: If we have multiple team members working on our domain’s configuration, group folders would make it easier to share access and collaborate. Each team member could have their own folder, or we could create shared folders for team-wide access.
- Simplify record management: By grouping related records together, we could more easily manage and update large numbers of records. For example, if we have multiple subdomains that use the same DNS settings, we could group them together in a folder and make changes to all of them at once.
DNS records would be a valuable addition to Cloudflare’s feature set, and I hope to see this feature implemented in the future.
PS: I suggested it also on the feedback google doc
