Google Page Experience Report Dropped From 70% to 4%

Our website server is located in US, but most of our visitors are from Indonesia. We have APO subscription enabled and most of our visitors hit the Cloudflare edge cache. On average, 70% of our URLs reported have good Google page experience score (we are happy about it). But starting from May 27th, the percentage started to drop and now only 4% are reported good.

Apparently our Indonesian traffics now are routed to YVR or LAX POP:

fl=69f57
h=.com
ip=
**
ts=1622856756.37
visit_scheme=https
uag=Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/91.0.4472.77 Safari/537.36
colo=YVR
http=http/2
loc=ID
tls=TLSv1.3
sni=plaintext
warp=off
gateway=off

For comparison, we have another website, the server is located in Germany and the traffics from Indonesia are routed to SIN POP:

fl=35f552
h=********.com
ip=*************
ts=1622857065.402
visit_scheme=https
uag=Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/91.0.4472.77 Safari/537.36
colo=SIN
http=http/2
loc=ID
tls=TLSv1.3
sni=plaintext
warp=off
gateway=off

We are testing from various device and ISP, and the results are consistent. We know that Cloudflare use Anycast IP addresses, so it’s up to ISP to determine the routing to that host. But what makes it suddenly change the POP from SIN to YVR/LAX (website #1) for Indonesian traffics? While on the other website (#2) still hit SIN POP?

This chart is an overall view telling you there are some issues but not what the issues are.

Right under that chart is “Page experience signals” which shows you why the pages are failing.

If you are failing due to “Core Web Vitals” then you need to go to the CWV report and see what the issue is from the 4 main CWV measures.

Hi Scott,

The problem is with LCP, now there are 11 thousands URLs with 2.6 seconds LCP (need improvement) which is slightly above 2.5 seconds that considered good. FYI only 190 URLs considered bad (LCP above 4 seconds).

That 0.1 seconds LCP difference that makes our page experience dropped. Before this, that 11 thousands URLs have good page experience score.
