Google G Suite error "Domain must have some nameservers."

Hi,

We use Google G Suite for sending emails for our domain ponocms.com. The domain itself is registered with Google Domains and run through Cloudflare. We’ve been getting the occasional email returned back with messages like “451 4.1.8 Domain of sender address does not resolve”, and we found the Google tool to check the MX records:

https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/checkmx/check?domain=ponocms.com

That page is showing “There were some critical problems detected with this domain. Mail-flow is probably affected. Domain must have some nameservers.”

That doesn’t really make sense to me — it’s set up correctly in Google Domains with the Cloudflare nameservers and the domain itself is resolving and loading fine.

Any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks for your help!

Looks like a DNSSec issue. Try either setting up dnssec

https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006660072-Understanding-and-Configuring-DNSSEC-in-Cloudflare-DNS

or removing the dnssec records on Google domains.

Thank you so much Judge, PERFECT answer! I set up DNSSEC and it’s now showing no error.

It did show a recommendation to still set up DKIM and DMARC. I added the TXT record for DKIM, but do you think it’s necessary to also set up DMARC? Is that important? Sorry if this is an ignorant question, I really have no idea about this sort of DNS setup :grinning:

For questions about those DNS TXT records, I suggest you head over to dmarcian.com
