I had my client’s site set up with Google Search Console and it was verified up until last month, then now it’s said the site is unverified. When I try and verify the site, by adding the HTML tag, or through Google Analytics, it says that it can’t find the site. I searched for others who may have had the same problem and they suggested it was a Cloudflare issue, blocking Google bots with the firewall or something? Has anyone heard of this and can they give me any guidance please? Thank you!
However, when I open your website, the status code returned is 500 (internal server error).
The site seems to work despite this, but it might be that Google doesn’t even try to find the tag upon receiving a 5xx error code.
Ah thank you so much for spotting that! WP Rocket was breaking the site and I didn’t notice as the site was still online. All fixed now - thanks for your help!
