Yesterday, I linked my website through Cloudflare, After that, I am getting an error in my Google Console. The error is “General HTTP error” And this error is after shifting on Cloudflare. Please help I am not able to solve this issue.
Sounds like Google requests might be challenged or blocked for some temporary reason
I wonder if any of Cloudflare security & protection settings like Bot Fight Mode or Browser Integrity Check challenged or blocked the request
If yes, then if you navigate to the Cloudflare dashboard → Security → Overview and lookup for Firewall events for the past 24hours or so. Once you find them, click on a particular one to find more details about it (user-agent, IP, HTTP version …).
How does your security & protection options at Cloudflare dashboard for your domain look like?
For my case:
- Security Level (works when on Medium, no issues)
- I am under an attack mode (should be disabled and used only in such cases)
- Bot Fight Mode (works with enabled, no issues)
- Browser Integrity Check (works with enabled, no issues)
- Custom Firewall Rules (works with them, even I don’t have
cf.client.bot
in them) - Managed WAF Rules (works with them)
May I ask you to post and share your domain name in bracketed dot [.] notation here with us so we could double-check, troubleshoot and provide some feedback information regarding the URL status, canonical, robots.txt file, sitemap.xml file and some other?
Maybe the sitemap.xml
file cannot be fetched over HTTPS due to some HTTP(S) error or wrong conte-type being served as for it
Otherwise, maybe it’s the typical GSC issue as they have had them in the past.
I wonder if the sitemap was generated “on-the-fly”, therefore maybe some timeout occured at the moment when Google was checking it for the first time
no, it was all okay before yesterday.
