Getting following error since adding site to Cloudflare: ERR_SSL_VERSION_ OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH

Hi all,

I have just set up my website with Cloudflare. My website is hosted on DreamHost and has a free Let’sEncrypt SSL certificate. I have added it to Cloudflare and changes the DNS settings to point to Cloudflare. I have since been having this error on the website: ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH

My settings on Cloudflare:

  • SSL/TLS encryption mode: Full (strict)
  • Edge certificate: Universal (active)
  • Always use HTTPS: Off
All other settings are set to the default, standard settings.

Please help!

Hi @cleardesign,

Did you manage to get this resolved?

If not, here’s some info:
The error “ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH" in Google Chrome prevents access to the site because it detects an issue with creating a valid connection to your site. This may be a temporary issue, and should resolve itself within 24 hours. If not, grey-cloud/deactivate Cloudflare so that the website uses the origin’s SSL certificate, see How do I temporarily deactivate Cloudflare? Activate Cloudflare again in 24 hours and try to access your website to see if the SSL certificate has been successfully deployed.

If you are still having problems, can you share the domain name here?
