What feature, service or problem is this related to?
DNS records
What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
So I’ve got a simple website that is proxied by Cloudflare (I’m on a Pro plan).
A large part of my reader base is in RU. They lost access recently because RKN blocked Cloudflare IP ranges.
Would it be possible to add DNS reply overrides for requests from RU?
I know that geo DNS is potentially inaccurate. I don’t care. I just want to give a different reply for queries coming from RU.
Or is there another solution?
I don’t want to disable proxying because I don’t want to reveal my server IP.
There is no solution to be found alone through Cloudflare.
If you can obtain your own IP addresses, which will be a very costly thing, then you will be able to use the BYOIP product on an Enterprise plan, and have Cloudflare broadcast your own IP addresses to the Internet, and thus be able to use them for your website.
In this case, you’re as neutral as you can be, such as e.g. from any other websites, that are doing things, that the RKN may not like.
RKN could move to steps where they are chasing every single IP address range, that Cloudflare is broadcasting to the Internet, and adding them to their lists, - so, chances are, even with the costly way as mentioned above, that it may not be working as expected tomorrow.
