Fully transparent png file that was converted webp format desn't work on Safari 14.0.2

Hi all,

I’m using the Cloudflare’s polish option(Lossless) with checking webp option as well.
It works fine on every browsers except Safari 14.02 on newest iOS(i.e., BigSur).

You can test on following URL.

Is there anyone can help me about this problem?
Thanks in advance,

I guess the older version of Safari still does not fully support WebP image format.

But, Cloudflare should be able to serve jpg/png files to Safari users based on the request header.

@MVP any ideas?

14.02 is the newest. I’m able to replicate the problem with Safari in Big Sur. And I don’t know what’s causing it. I’d have to dig around to see if I had any PNG files in a paid plan that had transparency and gets converted to WebP by Cloudflare.

UPDATE: I’m not able to replicate this on my own site with a transparent PNG converted to WebP by Cloudflare.

Hi Sdayman,

Thanks for your efforts for testing & reply.
The problem only occurs with a fully transparent PNG file doesn’t have any dot.
And it seems same with every newest iOS version mobile & PC Safari.

Thanks,
-Larry

Followings are my Macbook environments.

That might be a bug with the WebP conversion. I suggest you open a ticket and provide them a link to this thread. And post the Ticket Number here as well.
