First connection to site too long

What is the issue you’re encountering

When transferring the site to Cloudflare, we found that the first connection to the site, which is proxied through cloudflare, is very long (~1 min). This problem is observed only if the client is from Russia or Kazakhstan. When proxying is disabled, everything works quickly.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

  1. turn off proxy through Cloudflare - everything works quickly
  2. checking SSL/TLS settings on our backend
  3. disable ECH for zone via API
  4. checking nginx on backend - connection established after 1 min after user open site first time (if site proxified with Cloudflare). All other navigation works quickly.
  5. compare settings with another our zones (SSL/TLS, Network, …)

Just open https://dev.pay-guru.io from Kazakhstan / Russia locations in incognito mode.

Hello, you can try to do more to troubleshoot the slow issue of your site by such as gathering MTR and Identify the Cloudflare data center serving your request.
