Not all registrars are the same, we know that. And this is why we’re trying to replicate as many use cases as possible, to help our community use our services in any geography or with any provider out there.
We have recently noticed that the TLD registrar for .ro domain names is using a slight different approach to activate DNSSEC so this is a simple guide for any .ro domain users that are registered under the RoTLD registrar.
1. Login to your Cloudflare dashboard and go to the DNS menu option, scroll down to the DNSSEC section and click “Enable DNSSEC”:
2. You will get a pop-up window containing various sections of DNSSEC values. For this particular case, we’ll only use the first field: DS Record
In the above screenshot we are hiding the domain name for security purposes, but the portion that you will need for the RoTLD dashboard is everything that starts after DS
3. Go to your RoTLD dashboard, login and navigate to the DNSSEC section, then add the line highlighted above (everything after DS) into the DS section:
4. Now go to the inbox of your email address associated with this .ro domain name and click the confirmation link, and once you do that RoTLD will show this confirmation page:
- Verify that the correct DS Record was added, by going back to your RoTLD DNSSEC section:
You should be able to see the value under “Înregistrãri DS pe domeniul” sub-section.
6. Go back to your Cloudflare DNS dashboard page, under the DNSSEC section to make sure your domain is protected with DNSSEC:
Thant’s all. Now your .ro domain name has the DNSSEC correctly enabled and is protected.
