Every redirection slows speed and performance...so if that is true

Every redirection slows speed and performance…so if that is true…I have a few questions I need to gain deeper perspective on:

First, I prefer if all my websites redirect from non-www to www version.

Second, I am using Cloudways hosting and my registrar is Godaddy. I have set my DNS at Godaddy to Cloudflare Nameservers, and then added the following A records inside the Cloudflare DNS panel:

A record for www
A record for @

Are there any other best practices I should add on my DNS panel inside of CF ?

  1. Regarding setting up Page Rules…
*should this be set as non www or www ?

I setup page rules like this:

PAGE RULE 1:
estocksites com/wp-content/uploads*
-Browser Cache = 1 day
-Cache Level = Cache Everything
-Edge Cache TTL = Cache Everything

PAGE RULE 2:
estocksites com/wp-admin*
-Browser Integrity Check = ON
-Security Level = High
-Cache Level = Bypass
-Disable Apps = ON
-Disable Performance = ON

PAGE RULE 3:
estocksites com/*
-SSL = strict

*Did I setup these pages rules correctly?

I sent this message to Cloudflare support:

should I be putting the “w w w” in front of the domain when setting up the page rules?

All my websites need to be setup to redirect to w w w version…

Here is the response from CF:

Hi Taylor,

Thank you for contacting Cloudflare Support.

My recommendation here would be to offload the redirect from h ttps:// estocksites com/ to h ttps://www. estocksites com/ at the Cloudflare Edge via the Page rules in the Cloudflare dashboard as this will enhance performance. And then you can have all the page rules set for [www](h ttp://www/).

However, if you do not wish to offload the redirect logic to Cloudflare Edge, I suggest you to have the page rules enabled for the sub-domain as all the requests will be redirected to www by the origin.

I need your help with translating what they are saying?

I am not clear on what they are saying

  1. Are there any best practices with regards to using WP-Rocket Cache plugin and Wordpress? I am needing to use Let’s Encrypt, and they ask whether I want to add the www or non www or both to the Let’s Encrypt? Then there is another setting the http and https redirect? Where should this be done? I am using WP ROCKET, and does that matter? If anyone has any insights on this, anything helps!

  2. Is Workers something anyone can recommend? I don’t understand what the major pros and cons are?

That’s come up a few times.

For now, that’s all I recommend you work on. Most of those other page rules are unnecessary. But you’re certainly welcome to use Search to see what others have been exploring.
