It generally means that the action is taking longer than 100s and sounds like it could be due to a slow server.
A 524 error indicates that Cloudflare made a successful TCP connection to the origin web server, but the origin did not reply with an HTTP response before the connection timed out. Review the suggestions in this Community Tip for troubleshooting ideas.
I would recommend you and any admins use your hosts file to connect directly to the site while you are editing it, so you are not limited by Cloudflare’s timeout, if you run processes that need to be that long.
