Error 524 during zipping process


My customers need to download large number of images that are “zipped” on demand (when a customer clicks on multiple image download) by the server hosting my website. When the zip process takes longer than x seconds (I believe x is 100s) Cloudflare returns a 524 error. In the background the process is running well and finishes correctly but, because Cloudflare has already timed out, the customer only sees that the downloading progress is stuck.

Is there a way of setting Cloudflare’s timeout threshold to a higher value?


Only Enterprise plan customers can increase this timeout limit. 600 seconds.

Do you know if there any alternative method such us adding rules (disabling apps?) for certain pages?

There’s no workaround short of turning off Cloudflare for the entire hostname.
