Is your WP admin working over HTTPS or over HTTP?

Please, check below post to:

  1. Troubleshoot your HTTPS connection and SSL certificate
  2. Check if your SSL certificate at the origin server is valid, if not renew it
  3. Check if you’re using the correct SSL option at Cloudflare dashboard related to your origin/server
  4. Secure and make sure you’re having an SSL certificate
  5. Check your WordPress is running over HTTPS (including admin area)

https does not work

ssl is valid – just established origin. checked ssl online and got a B rank (?)
i can’t access the wordpress admin section because of the 522 error.

suspecting malware. looks like successful attempt was made or something. files in my cPanel were altered without me altering, but i am unsure how to resolve 522. on phone with cx support

said it’s cloudflare – something wrong with host address where i need to contact cx support

I paused cloudflare, and this was the result.

You need to contact your web hosting provider and renew your origin SSL certificate for your domain.

  1. Use the “Pause Cloudflare on Site” option from the Overview tab for your domain at dash.cloudflare.com .
  2. The link is in the lower right corner of that page.
  3. Give it five minutes to take effect, then make sure site is working as expected with HTTPS without any error
  4. Check with your hosting provider / Plesk panel / cPanel AutoSSL / Let’s Encrypt / ACME / Certbot and manually click to renew it
  5. Only then, when your website responds over HTTPS, you should un-pause Cloudflare and double-check your SSL/TLS setting to make sure it’s set to Full (Strict).
