Error 521 even though site is up

I have set up a domain with Cloudflare, I opened the ports for HTTP and HTTPS (80 and 443). I have SSL as part of the Discourse installation, so I have the DNS Crypto set for FULL (Strict) with the HTTPS/rewrites and always use HTTPS…

But I still cannot access my domain, either by port 80 or port 443. Can someone nudge me in the right direction? Domain is https://goondor.org

Thanks!

Have you checked firewall and similar? There must be something that is preventing the connection. What does sitemeer.com say if you enter the IP address? Dislaimer, the latter will reveal the address to me, so if you are not comfortable with this, refrain from running that check.

Oops, appears to be down

I dont mind its not mission critical. Just a hobby server…

Yes, that machine is not accessible. If you want you can remove that posting, to keep the IP address hidden.

this server is running a discourse install. Discourse cant finish the install because it can’t detect the domain or its not reachable from http or https…

That is probably best a question for Discourse. Right now the machine does not respond to requests, hence the error message.

I also asked them, and they said to check here… I used the domain name in sitemeer and sitemeer reports that the domain is working…

But when I enter the IP it gives me the error…

Doesnt work on Sitemeer either

http://sitemeer.com/#https://goondor.org

The problem is your server is not responding. You need to fix that, until then it wont work anywhere, be it direct, be it via Cloudflare.

I suggest you set that domain to :grey: until you get it up and running the way you want. Then put Cloudflare in front of it.

What does Sitemeer look for in a server?

Whether it connects and what it returns and as evident from your first attempt that failed.

But in this case it really is not all that relevant, your server does not respond, thats it.

ok well I’m going to look into it and will post more info later…
Thanks for the help and insight…
