Error 521 domain not resolving host says its Cloudflare

Error 521: web server is down

Error 521 occurs when the origin web server refuses connections from Cloudflare. Security solutions at your origin may block legitimate connections from certain Cloudflare IP addresses.

The two most common causes of 521 errors are:

  • Offlined origin web server application
  • Blocked Cloudflare requests

Resolution

Contact your site administrator or hosting provider to eliminate these common causes:

  • Ensure your origin web server is responsive
  • Review origin web server error logs to identify web server application crashes or outages.
  • Confirm Cloudflare IP addresses are not blocked or rate limited
  • Whitelist all Cloudflare IP ranges in your origin web server’s firewall or other security software

The server is up and responding to traffic. When I circumvent Cloudflare by

putting the domain and IP address in my /etc/hosts file the site resolves

as it ought to. You’re free to do this yourself or simply put the IP in a

browser to visit the site. Please note if you visit just the IP address of

a WordPress site it wont load the CSS so the site will look different, but

it resolves.

For some reason the connection between us and Cloudflare us broken. I don’t

see anything server-side which would point to it being a hosting issue. I’d

advise checking with Cloudflare to make sure your DNS is setup correctly.

It resolves on my ip 216.92.24.6

I removed the site then added it back and checked everything my email works but domain is not resolving please advise

Are you attempting to access your site via SSL? If so, your server is not configured for SSL -> http://sitemeer.com/#https://216.92.24.6

Well, you do access it via SSL. You need to make sure your server is properly configured then.

You are checking HTTP, but you are redirecting to HTTPS. The latter does not work.

Do you want to use your site on HTTPS?

Yes I am on the phone with tech support I had them enable ssl on the server side I disabled Cloudflare first now i willenabke ssl on Cloudflare is that correct

True, HTTPS works now (http://sitemeer.com/#https://justmarketingfunnels.com) and you have a proper SSL configuration as well. Cloudflare should work now too. There is only a mixed content issue to be fixed, but thats a different story.

Your awesome thank you so much if you ever need any marketing or advice I would be happy to help…would you mind pointing me in the right direction on the mixed content issue… I still have to set up Wordpress correctly just haven’t had much sleep last night lol

Have the same issue, Error 521.
Host works properly, but Cloudflare reporting it’s down.

As for mixed content, just use the search here or on the web in general. It is not an uncommon issue and there are plenty of explanations. Basically, you are trying to load HTTP content on your HTTPS pages and browsers dont like that.

Read over this conversation… I am no expert but my situation was my host didn’t have ssl enabled at all so I didn’t have proper ssl configuration as pointed out in this amazing community #sandro and also if you do not point things out or give support guidance they will just follow SOP’s they have and sometimes that is not enough…I also have to address a few other issues and I will post my updates…I am sure it is something overlooked or not set up by default on purpose and can be addressed this community is amazing again and thank you so much #Sandro for your awesomeness
