Error 1014 suddenly appeared in our websites

what could be the problem that suddenly three websites started showing this error:

What happened?

You’ve requested a page on a website that is part of the Cloudflare network. The host is configured as a CNAME across accounts on Cloudflare, which is not allowed by Cloudflare’s security policy.

does any have feedback how to handle this error? we enabled proxied, returned back, removed the record and returned back, nothing helps. We have not done any change on the domain’ record, we need cloudflare to clarify what has happened.

The error means you have a CNAME target that is to another Cloudflare account. That is not allowed unless the target uses Cloudflare for SaaS. Usually that would be a hosting service that itself uses Cloudflare.

Who do you use for your hosting service and what does the CNAME point to? It is likely an issue on the host’s end that needs fixing.

Thanks for the feedback, our website regitered with and it is pointing to cloudflare and cloudflare pointing to wpengine hosting server. since networksolutions domain registrar points to cloudflare this means that all records are in cloudflare free plan with free ssl certificate and cloudflare I believe is the one who started blocking the cname. but it was working fine and working well for other websites we have. it is still really not clear why suddenly it happened, we initiated a ticket also with wpengine hosting server support team. Do you have any hint?

WPEngine uses Cloudflare for SaaS so contact them to check everything is still configured at their end correctly.
