Getting error 1001 when setting up site via WPEngine

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I’m attempting to setup my site with wpengine’s advanced network, which uses cloudflare. However, after pointing DNS to wpengine’s IPs (141.193.213.10 & 141.193.213.11), I get this DNS resolution error from cloudflare. WPEngine support directed me to reach out to cloudflare to find out why the domain could not be setup correctly.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

The site is temporarily pointed away from cloudflare to mitigate the issue, but can be reproduced like below:

As you’re not a direct Cloudflare customer and your domain does not use Cloudflare’s DNS infrastructure, you need to work with your service provider (WPEngine) to resolve this. Most likely they need to enable something at their end to permit your domain to be pointed to Cloudflare’s infrastructure.
