Err_Too_Many_Redirects Only When Enabled CloudFlare Access

We have an issue when protecting one of our web-based endpoints today with Access. So the domain and URL is proxied over CloudFlare and work fine. SSL/TLS is already set to Full and it has been working fine always.

We were trying to enable Access on the admin area (e.g. when this is enabled, trying to access that URL gives a ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS issue. Removing the application from Access resolves the issue.

Any ideas?

Can you open your browser’s Dev Tools and watch the Network tab to see what all the redirects are?

Yes. This:

I two URLs that seem to bounce back and forth: h4gstaff and backyard/h4gstaff.

Is one an alias/redirect of the other? My guess is that changing your Access path to the other URL might work. In other words, you’re protecting the entry path, rather than the destination path. I’ve not run across this before, so it’s difficult to trace the path your login is actually following.

The URL to protect is in the format, I need to protect the /login part, the /something is publicly accessible. So my Access URL setting is /something/login

Is that wrong?

Your initial post said you’re trying to protect Admin, but now you’re saying you’re trying to protect Login. Again, without seeing the actual paths and process involved, it’s difficult to assess.

You may try adding a Bypass rule to your Access Application that includes your home IP address and see if that’s successful. You may also need to ask Support for advice, as they may be able to track how the forwards are working.
