@user19810 Your upstream SMTP server isn’t accepting connections on port 25. Please freel free to DM me on Cloudflare dev’s discord for help

Of course upstream SMTP server IS accepting connections on port 25:

telnet mail.*******.** 25
Trying *.*.*.*...
Connected to mail.*******.**
Escape character is '^]'.
220 mail.********.** ESMTP Sun, 06 Feb 2022 22:05:19 +0000
quit
221 2.0.0 See ya in cyberspace
Connection closed by foreign host.

There are no attempts to connect to it from Cloudflare servers.

In fact the problem is that Cloudflare SMTP servers refuse to accept mail for an address with error:

Failed to egress

The MX with a priority of 10 doesn’t allow the connection on port 25. Currently we only try the first MX.

According to RFC974 sending mailer should try to deliver the message to the all MXs in order of preference.

Yes, that’s something I’ll fix on our side. Out of curiousity, is the first MX failing on purpose?

Yes, first MX failing on purpose to prevent connecting bad configured mailers and fight spam.
