Email Routing - addresses at IDN (maybe just emoji) rejected

I have two emoji IDNs with email routing set up and with an email address configured. When I attempt to send email to them, I get a mailer daemon bounce along these lines:

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<[email protected]>
(reason: 550 5.1.1 Address does not exist)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
... while talking to amir.mx.cloudflare.net.:
RCPT To:<[email protected]>
<<< 550 5.1.1 Address does not exist
550 5.1.1 <[email protected]>... User unknown
451 4.4.1 reply: read error from amir.mx.cloudflare.net.

([email protected] is not the real address.) I’ve tried both sending from Gmail (not the account to which the emails are supposed to be routed) and from another email provider with similar results.

Has anyone successfully set up email routing on an emoji domain or any IDN?

Unfortunately, it seems not.
