Email Routing/Forwarding failing to Outlook.com . Appears to be a known issue? I need to identify all of the addresses which have hit this domain with the email being dropped so that I can check with the senders and instruct them to use a different address. However, my Activity Log only allows me to see these records in detail for the past 5days. The historic graph shows there were a large number of failed emails received on May 23-25th - I need this older info

Send an email to my email/domain with Cloudflare.

It is a known issue, when you’re forwarding messages to any FREE email providers, that they are from time to time giving you the cold shoulder.

Sometimes it is Microsoft (e.g. Hotmail, Live, Outlook), other times it’s Google (Gmail).

Forwarding CANNOT be recommended to a destination that you’re not in 100% control of, if you rely heavily on your email.

A very common standard in the email industry is to re-try email deliveries for 120 hours (5 days), such as when there are issues that appears to be temporary issues (e.g. transient DNS lookup failures, transient connection problems, … et al).

After that window, mail servers will give up, and a NDR will be generally be displayed to the sender.

Those CAN have been due to a transient error, or Microsoft rejecting with a temporary error code.

If 29 delivery attempts were made for one single email, but they all were rejected with a temporary error code, until the 30 attempt was made, where it was successfully forwarded, then this single email will show up as 29 failures and 1 success.

I am not sure you will find many (if any at all) providers that will provide such information, and especially not for very long, unless you’re eventually on a very expensive Enterprise plan, with arrangements to have things tailored to your specific requirements.

GraphQL should allow you to query data about Email Routing.

However, I cannot guarantee that the retention time is “huge” enough to fit your needs (e.g. whether the data will be available for hours, days, months or years).

Thanks for the extra clarifications. All makes sense. Only familiar with APIs on a concept level, not in any practical use.
The particular importance here is I was naïve enough to use the forwarding address when applying for a number of jobs, but cannot recall for sure which ones, and was hoping to use the Activity Log as a shortcut to knowing which applications to go back and resubmit, rather than all in the past couple of weeks.

Where can I find the IPs that Cloudflare uses to forward the emails?
Probably pointless… but I might just try log something on the Microsoft side…
