Email not working at all

I am getting a bounce back message each time I try sending a message to and from the acct. I spoke with my domain service provider and they are unable to rectify the issue. They directed me back to cloudflare. My A record name is mail and it is pointing to my IP address. The proxy status is also has a grey cloud. My Mx record name is mydomain.com (changes to the domain automatically when I put @) and that is pointing to mail.domain.com.

Why would they do that? If you’re getting a bounce message, it means you’re connecting to your mail server.

What’s the specific bounce message?

That’s definitely not Cloudflare. There’s a mail connection to your mail server, but it’s not working. Please show that error to your mail host and ask them to help fix your email account.
