Email from Cloudflare contains all my personal information including address phone

Feedback

I recently received an email as a reminder to keep my personal details up to date. That’s fine as is. Unfortunately, however, the email contained all my personal information in clear text. This means full name, phone number, full adress etc.
As email in an inherently insecure protocol, I am highly concerned about cloudflares treatment of personal information if they just send them out.
Is this even legal?

Sorry for the issues. I suspect you received a WDRP reminder to keep your registrar information up to date, that is an icann policy. I am checking with the team for more details.

As opposed to a HIPAA violation? If your mail host doesn’t support opportunistic TLS you probably have bigger issues than your registrar contract details being sent. But no, it’s not illegal under US law.
