Edge of tech skills & stuck on 'cannot be proxied'

Hello - Trying to set up a new client with CF; have only done a few simple sites before.

There are lots of DNS records in client’s GoDaddy account that CF isn’t showing as ‘proxy-able’ and I can’t see a way to understand:

  • Are they ‘skippable’
  • Would they failover to GoDaddy?

A records to IP addresses that dont resolve and appear unused
CNAME that appears to be legacy
alt2.aspmx.l.google.com (alt1.aspmx.l.google.com and other MX records work)

I think these are all artifacts/junk. Any way to verify when client has no idea and former devs are MIA?

TIA

Dan

Cloudflare can’t help with figuring out which DNS records you need or don’t need. My general rule of thumb is that they should match all the DNS records of their current website and/or email host.

Thanks. I think I’ve come to the same conclusion. I appreciate the help.
