Dynamic DNS updating via Cron, with Proxy services enabled

I found this excellent article that helped me setup Dynamic DNS updating via Cloudflare, instead of using services like no-ip, dyndns, etc.:

Everything is working great, but I would like to know why it is recommended to disable Cloudflare’s Proxy functionality when making dynamic IP address updates? I asked the author and haven’t heard back.

I sure would like to enable the orange cloud on that subdomain and have it stay enabled. I am able to turn it on (Proxied) manually via the DNS manager on the website, but the next time the cron job runs it sets it back to DNS Only. Any help will be much appreciated.

Possibly because Cloudflare only proxies HTTP/S. If you set that hostname to :orange:, you won’t be able to SSH in (or other non-website connections).

Thanks SDAYMAN. You are probably right. That makes sense.
