What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

I don’t know. I am a Wordpress designer, no backend experience. I cannot update Wordpress core, any themes, or install a new theme through zip on the site or FTP. PLEASE NOTE: I cannot upload my .png screenshot of the error to your website.

That error usually happens when the WP version you’re trying to update is really old. If that’s the case, you need to manually update it.

Hi Laudian. Thanks for responding. This website was an old shelf project that I’m now trying to activate and update, so that could definitely be part of the issue. Is there any simple guide to manually updating WP that you’d recommend?
