What is the isssue you’re encountering
Email setup via cloudflare DNS records including MX, DKIM, DMARC, and SPF are not working for email
What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
Testing setting on various DNS lookup tools, asking ChatGPT4 for help. All DNS lookup tools confirm records exist or pass tests. Sending a test email from different accounts to an email added at the domain above returns the error I am reporting above. Email Routing tool was used to write the records for me. routing status shows Enabled tag and Email DNS records shows Configured tag. MX records shows Locked tag. DNS includes a mail.bigfablab.net subdomain with the same configuration as the domain. I’m not sure I need this Email Routing service, but it seemed to help. DMARC management tool shows Quarantine, Soft fail and DKIM exists. Google shows DMARC fails, SPF aligned: Fail, DKIM aligned: Fail,
What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
Sending an email to reproduces the error by bouncing an email.
Do you have any other email service? Email Routing is a forwarding service that you can only use to receive emails to a different email address that you have.
If you have a different email option, I’d recommend you use that.
As to why it doesn’t work:
Did you validate your destination address? Did you create [email protected] as a custom address in Email Routing?
I ordered the domain from Cloudflare because I’ve purchased other domains there and like the service. The site is hosted on Siteground for WordPress sites. Email account was setup on Siteground. AI suggested email DNS should be created where the domain was hosted.
The account exists, does that mean it is validated? It can send messages, messages bounce when being sent to. By validation, do you mean something else?
Here is what I take from now trying to use Cloudflare for email DNS, use the host instead, it is not for regular email.
Since there is no way to change the nameservers at Cloudflare where I am hosting the domain, AI suggested adding records at Cloudflare that would point to my IP on Siteground. What is your thought about that @Laudian?
subdomain.yourdomain.com → corresponding SiteGround server
By following these steps, you can successfully migrate your domain hosted on Cloudflare to SiteGround while managing DNS through Cloudflare. If you encounter any issues, SiteGround’s support team can provide additional assistance.
You can use https://www.mail-tester.com/ to see if sending is working correctly. You can share a link to the result here. For the test, please send from your Siteground webmail (I assume you have something like that).
