Domain redirect errors in Google Search Console

I am trying to redirect an old site. I went to do a ‘change of address’ in Google Search Console but when I do a validation check, it is failing. Instead of redirecting to the new address, it is adding a string of 5 random characters to the old URL.

The page rule setup in my Cloudflare is:

which redirects (permanent 301) to

If I type in “” into my browser, I get something like this: (though those last 5 characters seem randomly generated)

If I do it using ‘www’ in front, it redirects properly…

When I ‘Fetch as google’ in my Search Console, this is the downloaded HTTP response:

HTTP/1.1 302 Found

GoDaddy is the site and Registrar so I don’t know if it is a problem on their end?

I do see your behavior, but the issue is with the Page Rule, change the matching from ** to ** or create an additional one covering*.

If you try accessing it via works:

curl -I
