Domain not on Cloudflare restricted due to zone hold?

What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering

I am trying to move my domains DNS to Cloudflare but I get the following error: “The zone name provided is subject to a hold which disallows the creation of this zone. Please contact the domain owner to have this hold removed.” None of my domains are currently with Cloudflare, and I understand that this is a Cloudflare feature and not something from the domain registrar? If so, how is Cloudflare restricting use? I’ve opened a ticket with support but the ticket has been ignored for two weeks.

The domain resolves to a Cloudflare IP though. The likely explanation is that your hosting provider is using Cloudflare in their tech stack.

Huh. Never realized that the IP was Cloudflare since it’s hosted by Salesforce. I will look into this!

So I’ll close this out:

When using embedded CDN settings in Salesforce Commerce Cloud, they put your domain in their Cloudflare account to use Cloudflare caching. You have to contact Salesforce support to remove it provided you no longer need these specific services from Salesforce.
