Domain not on cloudflare but has cloudflare nameservers

So I have a client whose website is down and upon checking it is on Cloudflare nameservers, but not using Cloudflare.

I wont allow any domain on my servers to use Cloudflare due to Cloudflare being set up to aid SCAMMERS hiding their true IP locations.

So my clients website uis down due to SCAM by Cloudflare, so this is a warning, unless you remove your ILLEGAL nameservers and IPs from the domain within the next 24 hr then i will be making sure Cloudflare gets reported to UK authorities so they can ban Cloudflare in the UK

Cloudflare is not the registrar of that domain and the nameservers can only be changed at the registrar. If the nameservers were changed without the knowledge of the owner of the domain then I would recommend getting in touch with the registrar to investigate who made this change.

Um, not really. Just dropping this detail here for folks that see this downtheline…

Cloudflare provides security, performance, and reliability services through its global network to [several United States Federal Government agencies]( including the FBI, the U.S. Department of State, the Department of the Interior, and the Library of Congress. Cloudflare is committed to supporting critical government functions, including the nation's election infrastructure. Through its [Athenian Project](, Cloudflare provides services for free to state, county, and local officials administering elections. Officials in more than half of U.S. states in the 2020 election took advantage of Cloudflare's services to ensure that cyberattacks did not interfere with the voting process.

that’s the official line, but FRAUDSTERS and SCAMMERS use Cloudflare to hide their true IP location and this is a FACT. its the same with free SSL certs. they use these as people with HTTPS makes their details secure.

If you feel that a site using Cloudflare is engaging in illegal or inappropriate activities, you can submit an abuse report at

You can also report the site to your relevant local authorities. Complaints cannot be filed via this forum.

Contact the domain registrar and ask them to change the nameservers to their default and away from Cloudflare and issue is resolved.

Please immediately contact local authorities if you believe a crime has been committed. I am certain the cf nameservers are not doing anything illegal.

That is not an action that Cloudflare can take, only the domain owner can.

The choice to use cf nameservers is/was something that the domain owner set with their registrar and can be changed simply by contacting the registrar.

But it appears, based on propagation, that they were able to figure that out.
