Domain Name Help

Hi my domain name dianemoller.photography keeps getting - too many redirects. I have gone through this so many times with cloudflare support and keep answering the same questions. Unfortunately no one seems to know how to fix it. I didn’t want to get into this long story but here goes. I bought Cloudflare for my website at Fine Art America. I had an issue back then but someone on the sales line actually helped me get it going. Then I changed my website to Artstorefronts and they added it for me. I have gone back to Fine Art America and now having the same issue. So IT IS Cloudflare where the issue is coming from! Cloudflare support keeps sending me to Fine Art America and Fine Art America sends me back to Cloudflare… NO ONE is helping!! I do know that a Cloudflare tech can fix it but I will not pay $240 for one year subscription. I paid for a Domain Name and it did work and it should work again. My last support ticket was (Ticket #1089122). I sent all the info about what FAA wants it set up, Cloudflare said it was correct. So everything looks like it should work but it is not!
Please help :frowning: Diane

Your issue was identified here and hasn’t changed since…

You have a redirect on Cloudflare from dianemoller.photography to www.dianemoller.photography and your origin is redirecting www.dianemoller.photography back to dianemoller.photography. Until you remove one of those redirects, it will keep happening.

I just sent this in again because Cloudflare has fixed it when I first bought the domain name.

Hello Diane!

Are you able to see sjr’s comment? You may have to reach out to your hosting provider to remove the redirect. Or remove the forwarding rule on Cloudflare.

If you need more specific help can you open a ticket on Cloudflare?

You can then share the ticket number here.

Thank you Wanda, This is very frustrating for me! I think you have to pay a monthly fee to get this support?

I’m not Cloudflare staff. I’m just a Cloudflare user helping you for free out of my own time. I’ve given you the answer several times telling you what you need to do. It’s up to you to do it, no-one else can.

OK, sorry, I thought you were staff. Thank you for your time. Believe me I’ve tried.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Diane

Hi @diane.dianemollerpho

Please disable the page rule you have in the rules dashboard. This should solve your issue.

There are no Rules. So I shut off## Normalize incoming URLs and there are no changes.

And what does this mean on my DNS page?### Custom NameserversCustom nameservers allow you to create your own, unique nameservers in place of your assigned Cloudflare nameservers. To switch to using custom nameservers, first create them here, then add them as glue records at your registrar.

Yes, you have a page rules.

If you go to the left side of your dashboard and go down to rules and then press where it says page rules. There you will see a redirect rule.

Custom nameservers lets you use your domain name on Cloudflare nameservers when you subscribe to a Business or higher plan. It is sometimes known as vanity nameservers and has no bearing on the issue you are seeking to resolve.

I was also told this: if your origin server is configured to redirect HTTP requests to HTTPS, server responses back to Cloudflare are encrypted. Since Cloudflare is expecting HTTP traffic, it keeps resending the same request, resulting in a redirect loop. This causes browsers to display “The page isn’t redirecting properly” or “ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS” errors.

Cloudflare only expects HTTP if you have improperly configured it to use the insecure Flexible mode. You should use Full (strict) and Cloudflare will then use HTTPS to communicate with your origin.

Your redirection loop is not caused by that. Yours is due to you having a wwwdomain redirect set on one side and a domainwww redirect active on the other.

It is not unlike a card that says on both sides:
Learn how to keep someone busy forever.
Turn card over for details.

Until you remove one, you will be stuck with this infinite loop. The one configured on the Cloudflare side should be easy enough to remove.

Thank you. I changed it to full strict some time ago when you or someone else told me to.

How do I change the other www-domain or domain-www on cloudflare?

You need to remove the page rule like @louise2 explained.

OK, I found it and I tried to send it to you but it’s restricted. so I’ll try this: Status Code 301,

the permanent redirect url is https //

www

.dianemoller

.photography

/$1

You don’t need to send it to anyone. Just turn it off.

I got impatient and played around with choices. and I got this message:### If you’re the owner of this website:The SSL certificate presented by the server did not pass validation. This could indicate an expired SSL certificate or a certificate that does not include the requested domain name. Please contact your hosting provider to ensure that an up-to-date and valid SSL certificate issued by a Certificate Authority is configured for this domain name on the origin server. I did finally just turn it off but getting the same message. will it take time to change?
