Domain is down when the proxy status is proxied

What is the name of the domain?

This site can’t provide a secure connection

What is the issue you’re encountering

We use a partial DNS setup and the SSL cert is set to off because we use our own SSL certificate in our server. The problem is my domain journal2.um.ac.id is up and running well when proxy status is “DNS only” but it is down when the proxy status is proxied with below message: This site can’t provide a secure connection journal2.um.ac.id sent an invalid response. ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR Meanwhile our goal is to secure and monitor the site by setting the proxy status to proxied.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

We have set the SSL to automatic and flexible but the result is still the same. We have try to wait when the proxy status is set to proxied but the domain was still down.

If using the Cloudflare proxy, then a certificate is needed on the Cloudflare edge. You either need to enable Universal SSL, or as you are using a partial setup and have a Business/Enterprise Plan, use the Cloudflare Custom certificate option and upload your own SSL certificate for use on the Cloudflare edge.
