If I get myself a subdomain from freedns will I somehow be able to connect it to Cloudflare?
The service lets users set A, AAAA, CNAME, CAA, NS, MX, TXT, SPF, LOC, HINFO, RP, SRV and SSHFP records and set up DDNS.

Probably not. You will need to check that the domain you are getting a subdomain of is listed in the Public Suffix List.
