Domain Defaults / Templates

Benefit

We manage several dozen domains in our account, with all domain having almost identical setup. Among other things, this setup includes:

  • Custom Nameservers
  • DNS Records
  • SSL/TLS configuration
  • Redirect Rules
  • etc.

Every time we add a new domain through the web app, we have to go through a checklist to make sure we didn’t miss anything. This in turn requires navigating through several pages and lots of clicking to complete. We know the API allows automating this (we already do it) but these scripts then need to be ran regularly to ensure newer domains are properly setup.

It would be awesome if we could keep this setup at the account level, either as defaults or as custom templates, so that later on when adding new domains, all this setup comes out-of-the-box. It would certainly make our process way more seamless!

Use Terraform…

Thanks for your reply, sjr. I’ve seen Terraform suggested before, but that doesn’t cover every use case. Namely, it would requiere managing everything in code. Unfortunately, this isn’t something we can commit to yet, as not everyone in our team has the necessary skills.
