My Question to Cloudflare:

I am getting “Domain is Premium” error for cnx.page, however your supported TLD’s include .page what do I do? why is cnx.page not supported, but you support .page TLD’s?

This is the response I have from cloudflare:

Unfortunately, Cloudflare does not currently support premium domains. Some registries designate a domain name as “premium” and charge higher wholesale rates for these domains.

  • We have no specific timeframes for the support of premium domains and not yet listed top-level domains (TLD).

Premium Domain

Please note that is not up to. the registrars to determine whether a registration is a premium domain name. This is determined by the registries and ICANN. Registrars, Cloudflare Registrar included, do not have mandate to determine this.

  • Premium domains are high-value domains that have the potential to become popular web addresses with strong branding opportunities.
  • Premium domains come with a significantly higher domain registration price, and in some cases, they may have a higher domain renewal and transfer cost as well.
  • The following are indicators for a Premium Domain.
    • Names that are short (<4 characters)
    • Names that are memorable
    • Names that are valuable search keywords
    • Names that are meaningful
    • Names that are brandable business identifiers
    • Names that are generic words
    • Names that are the name of a city

Premium Domain Names have special pricing, and we do not support these and therefore do not management of these registrations. We do plan to do so, but currently do not have an ETA for when this will be. Please check with your current Registrar whether this is a Premium Domain.

I have attempted to contact them again, but instead of answering my question, they sent the same response to me and closed the ticket.

Can someone please clarify for me why I am getting the “rude” GTFA answer, what RTFM bit am I missing?

.page is supported but Cloudflare Registrar does not support premium domains (regardless of the TLD) as their price varies from the wholesale price model that Cloudflare charges at-cost to customers.
