Do I need to pay to Cloudflare for a domain I already own?

I already own www.mylevelup.online. Today I am transferring it from namecheap to cloudflare, but cloudflare charged me $25.18. What is this cost? it already surpasses the cost I got that domain name for multiple times.

Please explain.

Thanks,
Scott,

The charge of $25.18 for transferring your domain to Cloudflare includes a one-year extension to your domain registration.

It is common for registrars to have promotions that apply a discount to the initial domain registration. This does not apply to renewals.

It appears Namecheap runs this kind of promotion. You can register the domain for $0.98 and then pay the full price for subsequent renewals.

To add to what @albert has said already about special promos for initial registration, below is NameCheap’s pricing for .ONLINE domains, which you can find here: https://www.namecheap.com/domains/registration/gtld/online/

Cool guys, if that 25.18 is for a third year, that’s OK.

Hi Albert,

“The charge of $25.18 for transferring your domain to Cloudflare includes a one-year extension to your domain registration.”

Does it truely include a one-year extension to my domain registration? I just got the invoice from Cloudfare, it says “Transfer fee (per year) 06/07/2023 - 06/07/2024”.

Domain Registration
mylevelup.online
Description Billing Period Quantity Tax (USD) Subtotal (USD)
Cloudflare Registrar
Transfer fee (per year) 06/07/2023 - 06/07/2024

I ran a whois on your domain an it looks like it is registered until 2025
