Errors when using a DNS checker

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I am very new to this and am looking for someone who could go through my DNS records with me and help me understand what is right and what could be removed.
I also used a DNS checker: DNS Propagation Checker - Global DNS Testing Tool
and got a lot of errors, alors I do have a varous CNAME records, one of those containing ‘www’.

See screenshot for reference. I can provide a view of my DNS records also if needed (can only upload 1 file atm)
Can anyone help me sort this out and how serious is this?

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

Because you can’t have a CNAME at the apex hostname, it’s converted to A and AAAA records.

Is something not working for you? The site loads fine.

It is working fine but I recently transferred my domain over to Cloudflare and there seem to be some DNS records that are not necessary. I have a website with Squarespace and the connection to the DNS records is not working correctly, I am getting a bunch of errors to fix. I have checked with them and they have referred me back to Cloudflare.

I’ll add the other screenshot to another message as it only allows me one file per reply.

Error message I am also getting from Squarespace regarding my records and SSL certificate.

Like most verification records, you need to ensure that they are set to :grey: DNS Only. Otherwise Cloudflare IPs are published instead of the records that are expected.

So you would recommend having DNS records set to DNS only vs Proxied? If so, which records should be set as such?

Any name that you need to verify needs to be set to :grey: DNS Only. Start with the ones in your screenshot.

I tried that, didn’t change anything…Same error messages.

You will need to keep them set to :grey: DNS Only and contact Squarespace support to see if they can investigate why their platform is failing to detect the assigned values.

I just noticed that you haven’t set the www CNAME to :grey: DNS Only. You will want to do that, too, first.

Hi there,

ok it did fix my squarespace records (switched to Found) but now my website is not accessible via www. prefix : www.goodguttalk.com shows error.
Am I meant to put them back to Proxied? Seems off that all my DNS records have to be to DNS only…

actually now my whole website is down. reverting to Proxied…
I don’t understand what the settings of each should be. Who can help with that?

Now it says that the website connection is not secure… I shouldn’t have touched anything.

help?

You need to leave everything set to :grey: DNS Only while you work with Squarespace to resolve your missing certificates on their server. Squarespace documentation indicates that you should leave them set to :grey: DNS Only.
