DNS Update fails with 405 error

I am trying to use the API to add and update DNS records the add is working fine but the update both the PUT and PATCH methods are failing with 405 error.
as far as I can tell the API Key has the correct permissions which is Zone DNS and EDIT .

any idea what I am doing wrong?

Looks like i was not passing the ID of the DNS entry correctly.
