Hi,
I recently migrated my website from BlueHost to Cloudways, and I’m reaching out for some guidance concerning a couple of issues that have arisen.
Firstly, I’ve noticed a significant decrease in my website’s loading speed since the transition. I understand that many factors could contribute to this issue, but I’m not quite sure where to start troubleshooting.
Secondly, I am experiencing some confusion regarding the DNS records within Cloudflare. In total, I have more than 20 records, and it appears that some of them still include BlueHost references. As I am not thoroughly experienced in managing DNS records, I am unsure whether these BlueHost references could be part of the problem or if they are irrelevant to my website’s current performance.
I would appreciate any guidance or assistance you could provide to help me optimize my website’s speed and rectify any potential issues with the DNS records. I am happy to provide any necessary additional information and look forward to your expert advice on this matter.
Please let me know if there are any further steps I should take or if there is any other information that would be beneficial in assisting me.
If your site is no longer with BlueHost, then you should remove all records pointing to the service. The only records that should exist are records for the new host (Cloudways) and records for other services you may use (e.g. mail records for a third party like Google or Zoho.)
Possibly, as requests may still get routed to these IP addresses.
Thanks for your helpful response. I’ve contacted BlueHost and Cloudways but I’m still unsure about which DNS records to delete. I’ve removed 5 out of the initial 28.
Could you possibly guide me further on which records, especially those related to BlueHost, are no longer necessary? I want to avoid inadvertently affecting other services.
If Cloudways provided you with a setup guide (or somewhere tell you what records are required to have your site work) then they those are the records that are required. One might deduce from that that the records that were previously configured are those for Bluehost and those are the ones that aren’t required. This is perhaps a gross over simplification.
I am not able to see what records you have, so can’t say what records to keep and what to delete.
