DNS returns 2 IP addresses

I have an application which rejects domains which resolve to more than 1 IP address.
I use Cloudflare nameservers and proxy my DNS entries.
When I dig the subdomain I intend to use, it does indeed return 2 IP addresses from the Cloudflare network.
I don’t want to disable the DNS proxy to fix this.
Is it possible to change a setting to reduce that to one IP?

Sorry, but no. Cloudflare assigns a minimum of two IPv4 addresses for redundancy.

Is there a particular reason the application rejects this configuration?

I don’t know why they made that choice, I’m just stuck with it.
