DNS Records A - Go daddy migration

What is the name of the domain?

smarthome87.co.uk

What is the issue you’re encountering

Migrated from go daddy, added new A record to point to my server but dns lookup is still resolving go daddy dns a records even though these do not show in cloudflare.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

check dns records

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

Your domain is resolving to Cloudflare ok…

If you only made the change recently, maybe your local resolver hasn’t picked up the nameserver change yet.

I’m getting “too many redirects” for your site so make sure your SSL/TLS setting is set to “Full (strict)” in your dashboard here…
https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/ssl-tls

Thanks for your reply, SSL is configured as you suggested.

dnschecker shows the wrong IP’s, shows two A records which point to go daddy but these A records do not show in cloudflare.

My A record seems to be getting ignored.

By “wrong” IPs I think you are seeing Cloudflare IPs, not Godaddy. Your DNS records are proxied so that is as expected, see here…

You won’t see your A records publicly unless you set the DNS record to “DNS only”, but then traffic will go direct to your server and not through Cloudflare so no Cloudflare features or protections will be applied to your traffic.

But the URL loads to Go Daddy website and not my website.

Also, I tried changing to DNS only but it shows the Godaddy IP and loads go daddy content.

I’m getting a home broadband IP address and a duckdns SSL certificate for your site.

Try using another DNS resolver or another internet connection to validate if the problem is with your local resolver as from outside, all appears correct.

When I turn dns only off though and use proxy, it longer re-directs to my server and goes back to go daddy. What do I need to do to resolve this please?

What you are saying keeps changing so it’s hard to work out what is happening. As I say, I can only see things are working as they should.

It is now showing the record is proxied and returning a 400 error.

Can you give a screenshot where you see the Godaddy IP address and where you see a Godaddy site?

Did you try this?

I have tried another network and I get re-directed to go daddy when I enter the domain smarthome87.co.uk

I am expecting it to point me to my server but to show a 400 error as it’s not yet fully configured, but cant get it to show me the 400 error, just go dadddy (When enter URL in webpage).

never mind, its just started to work, thank you so much for replying and your time.

Very confused now, was working beautifully, enabled HTTPS etc, now when I go my domain, its showing go daddy again :S
