DNS Record Exposes IP Address?

Hi Cloudflare! I had a question on the DNS records manager page.

Under the record "SRV – " for a private email through Namecheap.

There is an Alert that reads: This record exposes the IP address used in the CNAME record on — which you have proxied through Cloudflare.

As someone very new to all of this, I’m wondering how do I make sure my IP address is safe and hidden/secure? I did see ideas when I ran an online search for help, but it didn’t make any sense to me… is there an easy, step-by-step way we can figure this out?

Thanks for your help!

To keep your IP address hidden while using Cloudflare, ensure that all your DNS records that can be proxied (like A, AAAA, and CNAME records) are set to the :orange: proxied.

For email, Cloudflare does not proxy email traffic. This means your SRV record for email will reveal the IP address, and there’s no way around this due to the nature of email protocols requiring direct connections.
